Tribunes Leading After Day 1 at National Championship
BUFFALO, NY - The Monroe Community College women's swimming and diving team took a slim lead in the non-scholarship division finishing day 1 with 49 points, while Jamestown sits at 38, and Genesee Community College at 36.
McKenna Briggs got the scoring started in the 50 Yard Breaststroke with a personal best 32.72 finishing 10th overall in the country and securing seven points for the Tribs. Kara Williamson finished the same event in 13th with a time of 33.64 and four important points. Williamson would also score seven points in the 50 Freestyle Final finishing 10th overall.
Emma Preski had a strong swim in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 12:11.21 securing six pionts for MCC.
Autumn Collins had one of her strongest swims of the year finishing the 50 Freestyle with a time of 28.32 earning a point for the Tribunes.
The Tribunes ended the night with an impressive seventh place finish in the 800 Freestyle Relay swam by Kelsey Hucks, Sage Garcia, Yasmin Garcia, and Berfin Gul who finished with a time of 10:59.79 and 24 important points for the Tribunes.
MCC returns to the pool tomorrow for prelims and finals in the following events:
50 Backstroke
400 IM
100 Butterfly
200 Freestyle
3-meter and 1-meter Diving
200 Free Relay
400 IM Relay
