ROCHESTER, NY - The No. 3 seed Monroe Community College women's basketball team (12-15) fell to No. 2 Jamestown Community College (15-9) 61-55 in the semi-final round of the NJCAA Region III women's basketball tournament on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Niagara County Community College. Khamera Muhammad led all scorers with a game high 24 points, while Shariona Blocker finished with ten points to pace the Tribune offense. Grace Lundmark led the Jamestown attack with 21 points.
MCC led 29-26 at the half, but a strong third quarter by Jamestown put the Jayhawks ahead by three (45-42) heading in the fourth. The Tribs cut the lead to one with 47 seconds left in the game, but D'Auzhanay Harden hit a big time three with 24 seconds remaining to put the Jayhawks ahead for good.
Jamestown moves on to play No. 1 seed Niagara County Community College at 12pm on Sunday afternoon for the NJCAA Region III Championship.
