MCC pulls away, defeats Jamestown
JAMESTOWN, New York - MCC used a late 16-6 run to pull away for a 68-58 victory over Jamestown in a Western New York Athletic Conference women's basketball clash Saturday afternoon.
Samirah Henderson scored nine of her game-high 22 during the run for the Tribunes, who improved to 2-1 in WNYAC play and 10-4 overall.
The game was tied at 52 with just over five minute remaining in the fourth when MCC started the game-changing spurt. Henderson started it with a pair of free throws, and after a Jayhawk turnover, Cierra Harrison connected from deep to make it 57-52.
Jamestown then hit a jumper before Harrison scored in the paint, and Henderson followed another Jayhawk miscue with a basket to make it 61-54.
Henderson tacked on a 3-pointer and a pair of foul shots, and Jamiya Eaddy knocked down a pair from the charity stripe to put the game away.
Henderson nailed four 3's on the afternoon. Eaddy finished with 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals, and Lyrik' Jackson also tallied 13 points. Harrison chipped in with nine points, five boards, and three steals.
MCC forced 28 turnovers and turned those Jamestown mistakes into 31 points.
