WATERTOWN, N.Y. – The Monroe Community College Tribunes squared off against Jefferson Community College Cannoneers. The Tribs won game one 6-1.
Amanda Linnenbrink was brilliant once again in the circle. Striking out 11, allowing three hits, and pitching another complete game. Linnenbrink let up a lone run in the bottom of the first thanks to an RBI single from Jefferson's Kiannah Ward. Linnenbrink didn't receive any run support until the top of the fifth inning. The Tribunes scored four runs in that half-inning. Amelia Arena drove in two runs while Amanda Linnenbrink went 3-3 at the dish. Ashley Simons went 1-1 but she managed to walk three times. The Tribunes were able to swipe three bags in this one. Nikki Namisniak, Amelia Arena, and Ashley Simons all stole one base.
Game Two
Game two was a different story for the Tribunes as they fell 11-2.
Nikki Namisniak was in the circle for the Tribs. She pitched 5 innings, giving up 11 runs. Amelia Arena went 3-3 and Brooklyn Downey drove in their only RBI. The Cannoneers scored eight runs in the first two innings and this lead was too big for the Bunes to overcome. Jerfferson's Kiannah Ward drove in four runs while Katie Call and Emily Birmingham drove in two apiece. Kiannah Ward hit two home runs while Katie Call hit a round-tripper as well.
With the Tribunes going 3-1 since their return from Myrtle Beach they look to get back in the winners' column against Niagara CCC on April 16.
