ROCHESTER, NY - The Monroe Community College softball team rolled to a 7-1 victory against Onondaga Community College before sun light suspended game two with both knotted 7-7 in the eigth inning on Wednesday afternoon.
GAME ONE:
Six runs in the fifth inning led Monroe Softball past Onondaga Community College 7-1 on Wednesday. Morgan Brozak, Taylor Malchoff, Kaia Gustafson, Ashley Simons, and Amelia Arena all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Allie Schwerthoffer led things off in the circle for Monroe allowing four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.
The Tribunes racked up 12 hits on the day. Malchoff, Gustafson, and Kailee DiGiacco all collected multiple hits for Monroe. Malchoff led the Tribs with four hits in four at bats.
GAME TWO:
Monroe opened up scoring in the first inning. After Onondaga Community College scored one run in the top of the fourth, Monroe answered with one of their own. Onondaga scored when Carley Cinquemani hit a solo homer. The Tribunes then answered when Kailee DiGiacco hit a solo homer.
Monroe hit two home runs on the day. Amelia Arena went for the long ball in the third inning. DiGiacco had a homer in the fourth inning.
The Tribunes collected 12 hits. Carly Sobaszek, Arena, and Taylor Malchoff each had multiple hits for Monroe. Arena and Sobaszek all had three hits to lead the attack.
