ROCHESTER, NY - Allie Schwerthoffer didn't allow a single run as Monroe Softball defeated Jefferson Community College 4-0 on Tuesday. Schwerthoffer allowed just one hit. In game two, the Tribunes lost the lead late in a 6-2 defeat to Jefferson.
GAME ONE:
Monroe got on the board in the first inning when a wild pitch allowed one run to score for the Tribunes.
Schwerthoffer allowed one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out five.
Amelia Arena went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Tribunes in hits, while defensively Monroe didn't commit a single error in the field. Carly Sobaszek had five chances in the field, the most on the team.
GAME TWO:
The game was tied at two with Jefferson batting in the top of the fifth when a singled scored a run to put Jefferson ahead for good. Jefferson would go on to add three runs in the seventh inning to seal the victory.
Riley Bishop started the game for Monroe allowing 12 hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking one.
Payge Granger, Allie Schwerthoffer, Andrea Olsen, and Kailee DiGiacco each managed one hit to lead Monroe.
