Tribunes Lead Non-Scholarship Division After Day 1
BUFFALO, NY - The Monroe Community College men's swimming and diving team finished Day 1 right where they wanted - leading the non-scholarship division. The Tribs lead all non-scholarship schools with 27 points heading into Day 2 of the NJCAA National Swimming and Diving Championship.
Michael Laviani kicked off the scoring for the Tribunes in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:42.29 placing him 14th in the nation.
The 800 Freestyle team of Alex Scaglione, Brendan Briggs, Quintin Blair, and Laviani secured 24 big points for the Tribunes with a time of 7:49.22 in the evening final placing them 7th overall in the country.
The morning session also featured strong performances from several MCC swimmers.
Evan Olsheski finished 18 out of 26 in the 50 Yard Breastroke with a time of 29.10.
MCC was featured frequently in the prelims of the 50 Yard Freestyle. Scaglione paced the Tribs with a time of 22.33, while Briggs finished with a time of 23.64, and Ryan Campbell finished with a time of 24.47. Brycen Mirisoloff-Lynch rounded out the event with a time of 25.52.
MCC returns to the pool tomorrow for prelims and finals in the following events:
50 Backstroke
400 IM
100 Butterfly
200 Freestyle
3-meter and 1-meter Diving
200 Free Relay
400 IM Relay
