Tribunes Open Season With Road Win Over Tompkins-Cortland
DRYDEN, N.Y. - The MCC men's lacrosse team opened up their season with a 22-9 victory versus Tompkins Cortland Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Tribunes improved their record to 1-0 with the win, while the Panthers dropped to 0-2.
A goal in the first minute of play had the Panthers on the board first. Over the next 25 minutes of play, the Tribunes went on a 9-0 run to take a commanding lead. The Panthers were able to put up three goals in the second quarter while the Tribunes netted another goal which brought the halftime score to 10-4. The Panthers opened up scoring again in the third quarter followed by four straight goals by the Tribunes. Two more goals by the Panthers and another four by the Tribunes made the score 18-7 after three quarters. The fourth quarter saw the Tribunes net four more goals and the Panthers two which brought the final score to 22-9.
Chandler Redwood led the scoring for the Tribunes with five goals and three assists and was also credited with eight ground balls. Dawson Messmer scored four goals and had two assists. Steven Laframboise scored three goals and had three assists while going 23-26 on faceoffs. Cody Mayer scored three goals and had two assists. Jake Hamilton scored two goals and had two assists. Jahmere James scored two goals and went 4-7 on faceoffs.
Manny Anderson had one assist and 23 ground balls. Dylan Young had ten ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Isaac Sciarrone had nine ground balls and five caused turnovers. Lucas Preston had nine ground balls and five caused turnovers. Goalie Antonio De Ingeniis registered 23 saves on 32 shots faced for the Tribunes on the day.
Looking ahead, the Tribunes will host Hudson Valley Community College on Friday, March 22nd, 2024 at 6:00 pm.
