14-Seed Tribs fall to 3-Seed Panthers 76-58
DANVILLE, I.L. – The Monroe Community College Tribunes were seeking their second win of the NJCAA Tournament against the Ellsworth Community College Panthers. It was a back-and-forth game in the first half with Ellsworth CC going up 5 into the halftime break. Jaden Fleming led Monroe with a 10-point first half, going 6 for 6 at the free-throw line. Terrell Williams added 6 points in the first half to keep the game within 5-points. MCC did not allow Ellsworth to run the fastbreak in the first half which allowed the Tribunes to keep it close.
Monroe Community College came out of the locker room looking to go on a run. They came out of the break converting on a quick layup by Kenneth Tyree, Tyree scored 7 of his 11 points in the second half but this was not enough for the Tribunes to take down the Panthers. Fleming and Williams continued to score as they both dropped 8 points in the second half to try and provide a spark for the Tribunes. Terrell Williams dropped his 17th double-double this season but this was not enough for the Tribunes. The Panthers were able to run the fastbreak more in the second half and score some easy layups to extend their lead. Ultimately, the Tribunes would lose 76-58 against the Panthers.
The MCC Tribunes are set to play the Iowa Lakes CC Lakers on Wednesday, March 20. The Tribunes look to close their season with one final win.
