ROCHESTER - Sophomore guard Majesty Brandon scored 22 points and went over the 1,000-point mark as the MCC men's basketball team closed the regular season with a 75-63 win over Jamestown Community College Saturday afternoon.
Brandon's historic bucket came on a 3-pointer with 4:28 remaining in the first half that gave the Tribunes a 33-18 lead. Monroe led by as many as 22 later in the second half and cruised to the win.
MCC has earned the third seed for the upcoming Region III, Division II tournament. Monroe will host an opponent to be determined this coming Tuesday evening in a first round game. Winner will advance to the regional semifinals at Erie Community College on Saturday.
Brandon finished with four 3-pointers and was 6-for-7 from the line in notching his 16th 20-point game of the season. He was joined in double figures by Wes Nelson Jr. and Taylor Clements, who had 10 points apiece.
Marcus Zappia and Omari Brown chipped in with nine points each.
