Tribunes Wrap Up Myrtle Beach Trip With Win Over Middlesex Colts
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Monroe Community College Tribunes finished their Myrtle Beach road trip with a close win over the Middlesex College Colts, 3-2. With the win, the Tribunes move to 5-1 on the season as they turn their attention back home.
The game started out slow for the Tribunes as they fell behind 1-0 after the first inning of play. Two scoreless innings followed for both squads. The Tribunes scored their first run in the fourth inning to tie the game at 1 apiece. Both the Tribunes and the Colts put up another run each in the fifth inning to bring the score to 2-2. The Tribunes scored the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth inning to take their first lead of the game 3-2. The Tribunes would maintain this lead to ensure their victory over the Colts.
CJ Phelps went 1-1 from the plate with a single, had two RBIs, and was credited with a sacrifice fly. Joe Grzeskowiak went 1-1 from the plate with a single. Joe Wintermute went 1-3 from the plate with a single and had an RBI. Evan Brock was walked twice and had three stolen bases.
Zach Allen pitched 4.2 innings, facing 18 batters, allowing three hits, two runs, and two earned runs. Lucas West pitched 0.0 innings, facing two batters, and walking one. Will Russotti pitched 2.1 innings, facing 12 batters, allowing two hits, walking four, and striking out two.
The Tribunes will return to action on Sunday, March 17th, 2024 in their home opener where they will host the Spartans of Cayuga Community College in a doubleheader matchup.
