Tribunes Split Double-Header with Morris Titans, Move to 3-1 on Season
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Monroe Community College Tribunes split their double-header with the County College of Morris Titans in dramatic fashion on Sunday. While both games would be memorable, each would have a different reason for being so. The Titans would win the first game 21-1. The Tribunes would win the second game 10-3.
The Tribunes would struggle in this game from the start, finding themselves down 8-0 before scoring their only run in the fourth inning. The Titans would answer with a run of their own in the fourth to bring the score to 9-1. While no runs were scored in the fifth, the Titans exploded for 12 runs in the sixth inning. This would bring the final score to 21-1.
Brody Froman went 2-3 from the plate with a double, a triple, and had one RBI. Conner Sackett went 1-2 from the plate with a double and had a stolen base. Tobey Wright went 1-3 from the plate with a single and had a stolen base. Thomas Rebis went 1-3 from the plate with a single.
The Tribunes would use six different pitchers in the game.
Lucas Connors pitched 2.0 innings, facing 14 batters, allowing four hits, four runs, four earned runs, walking three, and striking out three.
Jack Keagle pitched 0.1 innings, facing three batters, allowing four runs, four earned runs, walking two, and striking out one.
Caleb Causey pitched 2.2 innings, facing 23 batters, allowing nine hits, ten runs, nine earned runs, walking four, and striking out two.
Matthew Salina pitched 0.0 innings, facing four batters, allowing four runs, four earned runs, and walking four.
Matthew Mady pitched 1.0 innings, facing six batters, allowing one hit, one run, one earned run, walking two, and striking out one.

Game Two
The Tribunes righted the ship in their second matchup against the Titans. The game started slow for the Tribunes with the score being 1-1 after the first inning. The Titans would add two runs in the second inning to take the lead 3-1. This would be the last time the Titans would score today. The Tribunes would add two runs in both the third and fourth innings to take the lead and bring the score to 5-3. No runs were scored in the fifth inning by either team. The Tribunes would score four runs in the sixth inning to increase their lead to 9-3. One more Tribune run in the seventh inning would bring the final score to 10-3.
Joe Wintermute went 3-5 from the plate with a single, a triple, and a home run. He also had 4 RBIs and two stolen bases. Alex Simons went 2-3 from the plate with a single and a double. He also had an RBI and a stolen base. Evan Brock went 2-3 from the plate with two singles and had two stolen bases. Tobey Wright went 1-3 from the plate with a home run. He also had 2 RBIs and one stolen base. Brody Froman had one RBI and one stolen base. Lucas Brown had one RBI on a sacrifice fly. Joe Grzeskowiak went 1-2 from the plate with a single, had two stolen bases, and one sacrifice bunt.
Charles Sobaszek pitched 4.0 innings, facing 21 batters, allowing four hits, three runs, two earned runs, and striking out two. Will Russotti pitched 3.0 innings, facing 12 batters, and striking out two.
The Tribunes return to action on Monday, March 11th, 2024 to close out the three-game series against the Titans from the County College of Morris.
