Tribunes lock up top seed with win in regular season finale

ROCHESTER - The MCC volleyball team capped the regular season with a victory over Finger Lakes Wednesday, and in the process wrapped up the top seed in the upcoming Region III tournament.
The Tribunes (35-1) prevailed 25-13, 21-25, 25-13, 25-16. Monroe will be the No. 1 seed in the regional tournament, which will be held Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at Niagara County Community College.
MCC and Genesee both finished 17-1 in the region, but MCC gets the nod via the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Cougars.
Dayle Taber had a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs for MCC. Rose Ayala and Chelsey Luce chipped in with 10 kills apiece and Montana Vescovi added 44 assists and eight digs.
Rachael Nicholls tallied 18 digs and Candice Greer had five blocks.
MCC will host the Western New York Athletic Conference this Saturday, Oct. 24. The Tribunes are the top seed in that tourney as well. The action begins at 11 a.m.
