Ariyo sets career goal mark as Monroe cruises

NORTH CHILI, New York - Sophomore Roosa Ariyo became the program's all-time leader in goals scored as the MCC women's soccer team defeated the Roberts Wesleyan College JVs 14-0 Wednesday evening.
Ariyo's goal in the eighth minute was the 59th of her career, breaking a tie she held with Wendy (Kotwas) Waddell. It was Ariyo's 35th of the season, which ties Waddell's single-season mark. Ariyo also dished out five assists on the night.
Katrina Yencer was the latest Tribune to put up double-digit points in a match. The freshman forward finished with 11 points on five goals and an assist to pace the red-hot Monroe attack.
MCC has scored 44 goals in its last three games.
Thenia Zervas had another big performance, registering three goals and four assists. Taylor Clark scored twice, while Efi Brame chipped in with a goal and two assists.
Tess Parker and Adria Kosiniski added goals to round out the Tribune scoring. Justina Meneses chipped in with an assist.
Meryl Wakefield stopped one Redhawk shot to earn the shutout. MCC outshot Roberts 30-2 on the game.
