Tribs wrap up regular season with rout
MCC is 14-0 heading to regionals.
ROCHESTER - Not even two games in a single day can slow down the MCC women's lacrosse team.
The Tribunes wrapped up a rare doubleheader by defeating the Niagara Unviersity Club team 22-1 on DiMarco Field Saturday afternoon. That came on the heels of a 21-1 win over Erie CC earlier int he day.
Monroe (14-0), which has been ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA all season, will be the top seed in next weekend's Region III tournament at Onondaga Community College. The Tribunes will take on fourth-seeded Jefferson CC on Saturday in the semifinals.
Dana Kiselica and Gianna Branca each had four goals and three assists to lead the MCC attack against Niagara. Megan Klein added three goals and an assist and Christie Hahn chipped in with two goals and five assists.
Morgan Hollenbeck, Nicole Beatson, and Dana Isaacs all tallied two goals. Taylor Excell had a goal and two assists, and Zoe Hendricks and Elle MacMillan scored once apiece.
Sarah Brown stopped six Purple Eagle shots in goal for the Tribunes. Isaacs and Excell picked up four ground balls each, and Beatson and Charity Warner both had four draw contorls.
