ROCHESTER N.Y. -- The Monroe Community College Tribune Softball team welcomed the Hudson Valley Community College Vikings to Tribune Softball Field for a clash between two of Region III's top programs.
GAME ONE:
In game one Tribune Ace Amanda Linnenbrink opened up in the circle and held the Vikings to one run, on four hits, and recorded 12 strikeouts.
Overall, the game was a pitcher's duel for the early half of the the contest, both teams combined for a total of eight hits and three runs.
Brooklyn Downey hit a cruical double in the bottom of the 7th inning that ultimatley would be the tying run.
Next, Leah Murray single with one out in the seventh to move Downey to third.
Jenny Walter drove in the tying and winning runs with a Double into the left field gap to lift the Tribunes to a game one victory
With the win the Tribunes improved to 5-0 in Regional play solidifying themselves at the top spot in Region III Standings
GAME TWO:
Game Two proved to be a higher offensive paced game, The Tribunes scored the opening run of the game when Madalyn Robinson grounded out and drove in a runner from third.
The Vikings would respond with four runs of their own in the bottom half.
In the second inning the Lady Tribs would add two more runs on a 2-RBI Single to right field.
Murray would finish the game as the driving force for the Tribune Offense, going 2-3 from the plate.
Nikki Namisniak also had a hot bat hitting 3-4 leading the team in hits.
Carly Cegielski would take the loss in the cricle going five innings and giving up seven runs (6 earned).
The Tribunes will look to build on their strong start in 2025 against Erie CC in a WNYAC Battle.
