ROCHESTER, NY - Monroe Softball bats came alive in their 10-1, 12-4, double-header sweep of Tompkins Cortland on Sunday afternoon.
GAME ONE:
Tribunes scored four runs in the second inning and never looked back. In the second Taylor Malchoff singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, an error scored one run for Monroe, and Andrea Olsen drew a walk, scoring one run.
The Tribs tallied four more runs in the sixth inning with Kaia Gustafson, Ashley Simons, and Allie Schwerthoffer each driving in runs in the frame.
Schwerthoffer was in the circle for Monroe finishing with one run on four hits over six innings, striking out six and walking one.
Malchoff went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Tribunes in hits. Simons led Monroe with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 11 total stolen bases.
GAME TWO:
The Tribs picked up where they left off in game one, scoring on a double by Andrea Olsen, a wild pitch during Payge Granger's at-bat, a walk by Carly Sobaszek, and a single by Taylor Malchoff in the first inning.
Riley Bishop was in the circle for Monroe surrendering four runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out five and walking zero.
Olsen went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Monroe attack.
