Dominant Tribunes Ground the Jayhawks in Big 5-1 Win

ROCHESTER, NY - #18 Monroe Community College Tribunes secured an emphatic 5-1 win over the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks. With this victory, the Tribunes extended their stellar start to 5-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play, while the Jayhawks continued their struggle, falling to 0-4-1.

Monroe dominated from the start, firing 10 shots in the first half while holding the Jayhawks without a single attempt. The Tribunes broke through in the 24th minute when Gabriele "Pepé" Sellati (Montebelluna, Italy) found the back of the net off an assist by Luca Dodge (Hilton, NY). The Jayhawks' defense was under constant pressure, but they managed to limit the damage to 1-0 by halftime.

The second half, however, saw Monroe shift into another gear. Sellati scored on a penalty kick for his second of the match and less than five minutes into the half, doubling the lead. Minutes later, Ollie Weir (Falkirk, Scotland) added to the action, netting an impressive volley for his fourth goal of the season from a well-placed assist by Hamish Campbell (Edinburgh, Scotland) to make it 3-0.

The Jayhawks got a lucky break in the 75th minute, scoring off an own goal, narrowing the margin to 3-1, but the Tribunes responded immediately, with Weir striking again in the 77th minute off a feed from Justin Krampl (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) to restore their three-goal lead. Krampl then assisted Jacob Sevene (Greece, NY) in the 85th minute to secure the 5-1 win. 

Jamestown struggled offensively, mustering just two shots. Despite the own goal, Tribune goalkeeper Matthew Rossi (Toronto, ON) barely broke a sweat, not having to make a single save. Monroe's relentless attack, disciplined defense, and dynamic play from Sellati and Weir proved too much for the Jayhawks, which meant almost the whole roster got to see the field in this game.

The Tribunes now aim to build on their momentum as they move forward, as they will try to defend home field when they take on Harcum College on September 20th.
