BROCKTON, Massachusetts - Marquis Pitt scored eight minutes into overtime to give the MCC men's soccer team a thrilling, come-from-behind 4-3 victory over host Massasoit Community College Saturday.
Pitt's goal capped a furious rally for the Tribunes (2-2-1), who found themselves down 3-0 less than 39 minutes into the contest.
The Warriors jumped ahead quickly, scoring just 29 seconds into the match for a 1-0 lead. Massasoit then added two more scores to take a commanding lead.
Monroe was able to get one just before the half. Mark Dorbor sent a cross into the box, and Dominique Modeste picked it up and scored with 41 seconds left until the break.
Pitt then cut the lead to 3-2 in the 66th minute after he came up with a lose ball and scored following a corner kick.
With the seconds dwindling down, the Tribunes came up with the equalizing goal. Julian MacDonald sent a free kick toward the goal, and Tomtom Johnson was there to put it in with just 1:04 left on the clock.
Pitt then put the game away in overtime. A cross into the box by Sam De St. Croix resulted in a scrum in front of the goal. Pitt was able to gain control and put it in for the winner.
Tim Knight finished with four saves for MCC. After Massasoit's early flurry, the sophomore keeper kept the Warriors off the board for the final 58:35.
