Thomas comes up big as MCC tops Lackawanna
The Tribunes prevail, 74-72.
LACKAWANNA, Pennsylvania - Romaine Thomas hit the go-ahead shot with less than five seconds remaining and then stole the inbounds pass as the MCC men's basketball team rallied for a 74-72 victory over Lackawanna College Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 72-69 with under a minute to go, the Tribunes (7-1) tied it up on a 3-pointer by Shaleik Ulysse. The Falcons brought the ball up the floor, but Damon Miraud got a steal for the Tribunes and was fouled with 5.8 seconds remaining.
Miraud missed the front end, but Darwin Trotman was able to tip the loose ball to Thomas. Thomas then put it in with four seconds to go.
Thomas was then able to step in and steal Lackawanna's inbounds attempt to seal the game.
Thomas finished the game with 12 points and six rebounds. Trotman was 7-for-9 from the floor and tallied 16 points, six boards, and five assists.
Miraud added 13 points and 10 rebounds and Ulysse scored 12.
