Thomas fuels the way as Tribunes top Monroe

NEW ROCHELLE, New York - Romaine Thomas finished 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead the MCC men's basketball team to a 70-59 victory over host Monroe College Saturday afternoon.
Thomas scored 12 of his 20 and hauled down 13 of his rebounds during a 46-25 second-half surge that saw the Tribunes overcome a 10-point halftime deficit.
The game was tied at 55 with just over five minutes remaining, but the Tribunes proceeded to outscored the Mustangs 15-4 the rest of the way to come away with the win.
Izaha Jackson started the run win with a 3-pointer. Thomas then knocked down a pair of free throws to make it 60-55.
The Mustangs answered with a layup, but Jackson responded with another from long distance to push the lead to six.
Jackson added a pair of free throws and Dykweil Bryan hit all four of his attempts from the charity stripe over the final 44 seconds to put it away.
Jackson finished with 10 points off the bench. Damon Miraud added 12 points and six rebounds and Darwin Trotman also scored 10. Bryan totaled seven points and seven assists.
