Schmarder Leads Monroe Offensively in Home Opener vs GCC

Rochester, NY.- The MCC baseball team hosted their home opener this afternoon vs the Genesee Cougars. After returning home with a pair of losses their last day in Myrtle Beach, the Tribunes fought back to steal both games from the Cougars. Max Schmarder went 2-3 in game one with three RBI and two home runs that gave the Tribunes the lead and won game one, 5-4. Schmarder went 2-2 in game two with one RBI and a double. Monroe capped the game in five innings, 16-1. With the wins, MCC advances to 4-5 on the season.

Joe Wintermute earned himself a double.
Patrick May and Connor Kiefer both earned themselves an RBI.
Game 2
May went 3-4 with two triples and finished with three RBI.
Ben Beauchamp finished 3-4 with a double and three RBI.
Kiefer landed a triple and two RBI.
Bill Quinn was the game winning pitcher, facing 17 with 10 strikeouts and allowing four hits and the lone run.
Monroe is back on the field this Tuesday, the 22nd when they host the Jamestown Jayhawks. First pitch is at 1 pm.
