MCC Baseball Drops DH to Close Out Myrtle Beach Trip
Myrtle Beach, SC.- Monroe Community College baseball team wrapped up their final double header of their Myrtle Beach trip Tuesday evening in another pair of games vs Mercer County CC.
Game 1
Monroe got off to a slow start trailing by four in the first few innings until they came back in inning four to rally eight runs. Unfortunately, they couldn't hold the lead and the Vikings came back to score five in the fifth inning. The game resulted in an 11-9 loss for the Tribunes.
Connor Kiefer, Ben Beauchamp and Max Schmarder each earned themselves a double.
Kiefer (2), Schmarder, Justin Herrera, Trevor Gienau, Joe Wintermute and Dylan Wanat together totaled seven RBI's on the day.
Game 2
Mercer got off to an early lead with two runs in the first and another two in the second, MCC couldn't catch up. Monroe was only able to get four runs on the board while the Vikings finished with 10. The game closed at an 10-4 loss for the Tribunes.
Freshman, Ryan Stewart hit his first homerun of the season.
Ben Beauchamp stole three bases against Mercer.
After their trip, Monroe is now 2-5 overall on the season. The Tribunes have a few days off until they welcome Genesee Community College for a 1/3 pm DH on March 20th.
