Joe Reina ('95)

2013 Inductee

Intercollegiate Athlete Award

A force at the plate as well as in the field, Joe Reina starred at shortstop for the Tribune baseball program during the 1994 and 1995 seasons. Reina batted .354 his freshman year, finishing with five doubles, 10 stolen bases, and 24 RBIs while being named to the All-Region III team. Reina’s sophomore season was even more prolific, as he batted .439 with a team-high six home runs and helped lead MCC to the Region III championship. He was named the region’s Player of the Year and earned second team NJCAA All-American honors.  Reina continued his collegiate career at Long Island University-Brooklyn Campus, where he excelled for two more years on the field before embarking on a successful coaching career.  He served as an assistant at MCC and The College of New Jersey before becoming the head coach at the University of Rochester, where he has educated student-athletes for more than a decade.
