Tribunes Capture Women's Non-Scholarship Division Championship
BUFFALO, NY - The Monroe Community College women's swimming and diving returned to the top of the non-scholarship division on Saturday evening finishing with a team score of 249 points and earning the Spyke Johnson Championship award. The championship is the first for the women since 2020.
The Tribunes entered the final event of the championship trailing Genesee Community College by six points. The 400 Freestyle Relay team swam by Kara Williamson, McKenna Briggs, Emma Preski, and Autumn Collins needed to turn in their best swim of the year and they did not disppoint turning in a fifth place finish shaving nearly nine seconds off their seed time to earn the needed six points and capture the championship.
The Tribunes turned in performances across the board on Saturday evening. Briggs won the B-Final in the 100 Freestyle finishing ninth overall while Collins finished 15th with the two finishes capturing 11 crucial points.
Jillian Sauer finished third overall in the nation in the 1 mtr diving finishing with 183.3 points earning 16 points for the team. Shelby Nerber finished seventh with 142.8 points earning 12 points for the Tribunes.
