PITTSFORD, New York - Roosa Ariyo scored five goals to lead the MCC women's soccer team to an 11-0 victory over the Nazareth College JVs Wednesday evening.
It was the second time this season Ariyo has scored five times in a single game. She also accomplished the feat against Rowan College at Burlington County Sept. 1.
Theoni Zerva added three goals and two assists and Paige McGrath chipped in with two goals and one assist for Monroe. Meghan Carroll also scored for the second-ranked Tribunes (8-1-0).
Ariyo got things started less than four minutes in, taking a through ball from Zerva and putting it home for a 1-0 lead. McGrath doubled the lead about 10 minutes later when she controlled a rebound off a Bayley Kralik attempt and scored.
Ariyo and McGrath then alternated goals once again, and Ariyo and Zerva tacked on goals just before the half to make it 6-0 at the break.
Zerva and Ariyo then scored twice apiece in the second half and Carroll added her goal as the Tribunes finished off the victory.
Kirsten Lane and Marykate Eckert split time in goal and each made one save to combine for the shutout. Charlotte Collins-Blaize and Elin Eklund added a pair of assists each, and Jessica Hewitt and Taylor Clark added helpers.
