ROCHESTER - The top-ranked MCC women's lacrosse team raced to an insurmountable lead in the first half and cruised to a 22-2 victory over North Country Community College Saturday afternoon.
The Tribunes (2-0) scored early and often on its way to a 19-0 lead after the first 30 minutes. Monroe spaced the field in the second half en route to its 85th win in a row.
Janee DeLuca had six goals and an assist and Kenzie Donahue added five goals and two assists for MCC. Brittany Chamberlain tallied three goals and three helpers and also put up nine draw controls.
The Tribunes held a 35-3 edge in total shots and controlled 21 out of 25 draws.
Maliah Benedetto finished with two goals and five assists, while Adriana Williams and Fran Messura had two goals and two assists apiece. Sarah Shaffer also scored twice and Kyrsten Stone added two assists.
Stone gathered a team-best four ground balls, while Williams, Shaffer, and Donahue had three each. Maddy Fingar had three ground balls and caused two turnovers, and Chloe Wormsley also caused two North Country miscues.
