Rodney, Green earn All-American honors
The sophomore duo led MCC to the 2018 national title.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - MCC sophomores Lanay Rodney and Sierra Green were announced as first team NJCAA All-Americans Wednesday morning.
The duo helped lead the MCC women's basketball team to the NJCAA Division II national championship late last month. The Lady Tribunes finished the season 33-2, culminating with a 62-58 win over Kirkwood Community College in the NJCAA title game.
Rodney, a 5-foot-8 forward, led the team in scoring at 19.6 points per game. She also tallied 9.0 rebounds and 2.4 steals per contest while shooting 53 percent from the field. She hit the 1.000-point mark during the regular season and capped her MCC career with 1,176 total points.
Green averaged 19.0 points per game and rewrote the record books from beyond the arc. She hit 158 3-pointers on the season, which led NJCAA Division II and was the most in a single season in team history. The 5-foot-8 shooting guard set new Tribune records for single-game (12), and career 3-pointers (246). She also eclipsed the 1,000-point mark, finishing with 1,109.
Rodney and Green were named Region III Co-Players of the Year as well.
