ROCHESTER - Sierra Green scored all of her game-high 20 points in the second half and went over the 1,000-point mark in her career as the MCC women's basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a 72-57 win over Jamestown Community College Wednesday evening.
After going 0-for-2 from the floor and picking up a pair of quick fouls in the first half, Green came out hot in the third to help Monroe hold off the Jayhawks. Her first two baskets got her to 1,000 points for her career, and she finished with 15 in the frame as MCC opened a double-digit lead heading to the fourth.
MCC then held Jamestown to 10 points in the final quarter to finish off the victory.
The Tribunes end the regular season 15-0 in the Western New York Athletic Conference and 27-2 overall. Monroe will be the top seed and host the Region III, Division II tournament March 10 and 11. Jamestown (11-4, 19-6) will be the No. 2 seed.
Jaynelle Robinson shook off some foul trouble of her own to finish with 16 points and 11 rebounds for MCC. Lanay Rodney added 15 points and 10 boards, while Samirah Henderson hit three 3's and scored 11.
Torrie Cash tallied five points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, and Erica Abitante had five points and five assists.
