Lady Tribs clinch WNYAC regular season title
MCC to host Region III tournament in March.
BATAVIA - Sierra Green hit seven 3's and scored a team-high 31 points to lead the MCC women's basketball team to an 83-39 victory over Genesee Community College Wednesday evening.
With the win, Monroe clinched home court for the upcoming Region III, Division II tournament. The top-ranked Tribunes are 13-0 in conference and 25-2 overall.
MCC didn't shoot particularly well on the night, but the team's defense and rebounding were key. The Tribunes pulled down a season-best 62 rebounds and held the Cougars to just 23 percent from the field. The 39 points were the lowest MCC has allowed this season.
Green continued her season-long assault on the 3-point line, hitting seven more treys to bring her total to 125 on the year. She also pulled down nine rebounds, dished out three assists, and grabbed three steals.
Torrie Cash filled the stat sheets once again, tallying 13 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists. Jaynelle Robinson, who hauled down an MCC single-game record 24 rebounds Monday against Monroe College, finished with 10 points, 20 boards, and three blocked shots.
Erica Abitante chipped in with 12 points, Taliyah Brisco added nine, and Samirah Henderson scored eight.
