Robinson leads Monroe past Erie
The Tribunes wrap up a perfect WNYAC slate.
BUFFALO - Jaynelle Robinson came off the bench to register 20 points, 11 rebounds, and a pair of steals to lead the MCC women's basketball team to a 78-46 win over Erie Community College in the Western New York Athletic Conference finale Wednesday evening.
The Lady Tribunes (23-3) will travel to Roberts Wesleyan to take on the RedHawk JVs on Friday to finish the regular season. Monroe will be the top seed and host the Region III, Division II tournament, March 4-5, after finishing a perfect 10-0 in conference play during the regular season.
Robinson provided a big spark for the Tribunes. The 6-foot-3 freshman center finished 10-of-16 from the floor as she registered her fifth double-double of the season. Robinson is averaging 16.5 points and 11 rebounds over her last four games and is rounding into form after missing the first 10 games of the season due to a broken bone in her hand.
Torrie Cash added a fine all-around game for the Tribunes. Cash finished with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, and eight steals. Monroe had 22 steals on the game and converted 28 Kat turnovers into 29 points.
Sierra Green and Ellease Billings-Harrison added nine points each and Lanay Rodney chipped in with eight.
