Tribunes hang on against Harford to stay unbeaten
MCC improves to 5-0 on the season.
NEW ROCHELLE, New York - The MCC women's basketball team opened a big second-half lead and held on down the stretch for a 98-93 victory over Harford Community College at the Monroe Classic on Sunday.
The Tribunes (5-0) led 78-62 going into the fourth quarter. The Fighting Owls proceeded to outscore MCC 31-20 over the final 10 minutes, but MCC was able to hang on.
Shanice Johnson had a monster game for Monroe. The sophomore was 7-for-12 from the floor, 11-for-13 from the line, and scored 25 points to go along with 20 rebounds. MCC held a 49-29 advantage on the glass.
Deja Carroll finished with 21 points and five assists and Naje Gibson added 17 points and seven boards for the Tribunes. Kiki Bynes had a solid all-around game with 11 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists, and Adre'onia Coleman scored 10.
Abby White added three 3-pointers and scored nine.
