ROCHESTER - Rose Ayala and Deja Carroll led six players in double figures with 15 points apiece and the MCC women's basketball team moved its winning streak to 11 games with a 90-53 victory over Niagara County Community College Thursday night.
The Tribunes are now 2-0 in WNYAC play and 16-1 overall. Niagara falls to 18-3.
A huge advantage on the glass was key as the Tribunes opened a 21-point lead at the break and continued to open it up in the second half. MCC outrebounded the Thunderwolves 55-27 on the evening. Twenty-two of them were on the offensive end as MCC held a 21-3 edge in second-chance points.
Ayala had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The sophomore was 5-for-6 from the floor and had 11 points and seven boards in the first half alone to help Monroe open the big lead.
Bailey Hixson also had a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 10 boards. Tyese Purvis added 12 points, six assists, and five rebounds.
Adre'onia Coleman and Tolulope Ogunrinde tallied 10 points and seven rebounds apiece. Kiki Byes scored eight and dished out 11 assists.
