Lady Tribs cruise past Herkimer
MCC opens the second semester with a resounding victory on the road.
HERKIMER, New York - Bailey Hixson set a career-high with 27 points to lead the MCC women's basketball team to a 102-35 victory over host Herkimer College Sunday afternoon.
Hixson was 7-for-8 from long range, tying her personal best for 3's in game set just two weeks ago against ASA. The sophomore has hit 16 of her last 21 attempts from beyond the arc.
Hixson finished 10-for-11 from the floor, whish was part of a 56 percent shooting effort on the afternoon for Monroe.
Tolulope Ogunrinde added 19 points and nine rebounds and Tyese Purvis totaled 10 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists.
Adre'onia Coleman scored nine, and Deja Carroll, Rose Ayala, and Kiki Bynes had eight apiece. Bynes also dished out eight assists as the team finished with 26 dimes and just 10 turnovers.
The victory was the ninth in a row for the Tribunes, who are ranked sixth in the NJCAA Division II national poll. MCC is 14-1 overall.
