Big second half leads Lady Tribunes past Monroe

ROCHESTER - The MCC women's basketball team broke open a close game with a huge second half en route to a 68-50 win over Monroe College in the opening round of the Pete Pavia Memorial scholarship Basketball Tournament Saturday.
The teams were tied at 24 at the half before the Tribunes pulled away. MCC outscored the Mustangs 44-26 over the final 20 minutes.
Four players hit for double figures in another balanced Tribune effort. Tyese Purvis led the way with 13, while Tolulope Ogunrinde had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Adre'onia Coleman came off the bench to register 11 points and eight rebounds and Kiki Bynes tallied 10 points and eight assists.
The Tribunes held the Mustangs to 31 percent shooting (20-for-65).
Bailey Hixson chipped in with nine for MCC and Rose Ayala had eight points and eight boards.
