WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – The Monroe CC Tribunes topped the Erie CC Kats 7-5 after taking a late lead. After timely hitting the Tribunes scored 5 runs in the sixth inning.
Amanda Linnenbrink stepped into the circle for the Tribunes in game one. She pitched 7 innings, giving up nine hits, 5 runs (1 earned), and struck out 9 batters. The scoring started early for the Tribs as Carly Sobaszek walked with the bases loaded and then Amanda Linnenbrink hit a sacrifice fly. Erie took the lead in the bottom of the first after an RBI double, a groundout, and a passed ball. Erie extended their lead in the bottom of the third after adding two more runs to make it 5-2. MCC flipped the game on its head when they scored 5 of their own in the top of the sixth. Brooklyn Downey hit a 2 run single in the sixth along with Nikki Namisniak singling while also driving in two runs. The Tribunes were able to hold onto this late lead to win game one 7-5.
Winners of their last three games the Tribunes looked to roll their momentum into game two.
GAME TWO
MCC Tribunes rolled their momentum into game two winning it 6-4, this is how it played out.
Nikki Namisniak stepped into the circle for MCC in game two. She pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing four hits and four runs (1 earned). Amanda Linnenbrink pitched 1 1 2/3 innings giving up no runs in her relief appearance. MCC jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the second inning. Brooklyn Downey singled, scoring two runs. Morgan Brozak hit into a fielder's choice driving in a run and Ashley Simons singled driving in one run. Erie CC tied the game in the fifth inning. MCC later regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth. They won the game 6-4.
After winning their last 4 games MCC takes on Corning CC on April 20 at 12 PM in Corning.
