ROCHESTER, NY - Monroe Softball took home a 7-3, and 12-4 victory over Erie Community College on Thursday afternoon.
GAME ONE:
Monroe tallied three runs in the fourth inning. Carly Sobaszek, Kaia Gustafson, and Ashley Simons all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Allie Schwerthoffer was in the pitcher's circle for Monroe tossing seven innings, allowing three runs on three hits, and striking out six.
Tribunues tallied ten hits. Sobaszek and Simons each collected two hits to lead Monroe.
GAME TWO:
Erie fired up the offense in the first inning with a two-run blast to take the lead.
Monroe battled back in the second with two runs in the inning. In the second Allie Schwerthoffer singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Andrea Olsen grounded out, scoring one run.
Monroe tallied four runs in the fifth inning on a grand slam by Olsen to take the lead for good.
Riley Bishop was in the circle for Monroe and surrendered four runs on five hits over five innings, striking out eight.
The Tribunes racked up 12 hits on the day. Taylor Malchoff, Carly Sobaszek, and Amelia Arena each had multiple hits for Monroe with Malchoff leading the charging finishing 3-for-4 at the plate.
