ROCHESTER, NY - Allie Schwerthoffer and Riley Bishop each threw a shutout to lead Monroe Softball to a double-header sweep on Thursday.
GAME ONE:
Monroe notched four runs in the fourth inning. Kailee DiGiacco and Payge Granger all contributed in the big inning with RBIs. Schwerthoffer toed the rubber for Monroe tossing seven innings, allowing five hits and zero runs while striking out 13. The Tribunes had 13 hits in the game. Schwerthoffer, Kaia Gustafson, Ashley Simons, DiGiacco, and Amelia Arena each had multiple hits for Monroe. Schwerthoffer led Monroe with three hits in five at bats. Danielle Stefanie went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Genesee.
GAME TWO:
Bishop allowed four hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out four to earn the shutout in game two. Monroe racked up 14 hits. Carly Sobaszek, Taylor Malchoff, Allie Schwerthoffer, and Kaia Gustafson all managed multiple hits for the Tribunes. Schwerthoffer, Malchoff, and Sobaszek all had three hits to lead the attack. Kaiya Querengesser went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Genesee Community College Softball in hits.
