BUFFALO - The MCC softball team continued its strong play with a pair of Region III victories over Erie CC Tuesday afternoon.
The Tribunes (12-6) prevailed 5-4 and 11-3 to move to 6-0 in regional play. MCC hosts Finger Lakes on Thursday.
Monroe jumped out to a quick lead in the opener and held on for the win. Maria Marcera singled in the top of the first and came around on a Jennifer Teerlinck hit to make it 1-0.
The Tribunes then tacked on four in the second to take a 5-0 lead. Colby Kidder had an RBI triple and Julia Grace followed with a two-run base hit. Amber Terlaje then added a run-scoring hit of her own.
Terlaje picked up her seventh win of the season for MCC. The sophomore allowed two earned runs and struck out six. Terlaje, Marcera, and Kidder all rapped two hits.
