ROCHESTER - Yiming Yang scored three goals and Trey Hildebrandt added one of his own as the MCC men's soccer team defeated Genesee CC 4-1 on John L. DiMarco Field Wednesday.
The 10th-ranked Tribunes move to 7-1-2 on the season. The team is 7-0-1 in its last eight contests.
Yang got MCC on the board in the 11th minute, converting a nifty pass from David Antunez for a 1-0 lead. The advantage doubled in the 21st minute when Yang corraled an errant Cougar pass, beat the GCC goalie to the loose ball, and hit the open net.
Hildebrandt made it 3-0 early in the second half, picking off a clear attempt by the GCC goalie and putting it home. Yang then finished off Monroe's scoring with a penalty kick conversion in the 57th minute.
Samuel Torrelli finished with five saves in a strong effort in goal for the Tribunes. The sophomore stopped two quality Cougar scoring opportunities in the opening minutes in the game. GCC's lone goal came off a rebound from Nathan Rose in the 64th minute, after Torelli had stopped Rose's initial penalty kick.
