Tribunes stay hot, take two from TC3

DRYDEN, NY - The MCC baseball team rode the strength of a 10-run first inning of game one to a doubleheader sweep of host Tompkins Cortland CC Sunday.
The Tribunes prevailed 15-2 and 5-1 to move to 23-9 on the season.
Spencer Scorza (Penfield, NY/Penfield) had a great day in the first inning alone in the opener, coming through with a bases-clearing double as well as an RBI single. Angel Rosario (Bridgeport, CT/Bullard Havens) chipped in with a two-run double as the Tribunes sent 15 batters to the plate.
Brad Kaczka (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) and Danny Mendick (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) had three hits apiece as MCC banged out 17 on the game. Vinny Bomasuto (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk) also had three hits, including his nation-leading 14th triple.
Brett Sanders (Greece, NY/Greece Olympia) added two hits and three RBIs. Nick DiBenedetto (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) went three innings to get the win and improve to 4-0. Xavier Maira (Chili, NY/Churchville-Chili) tossed two scoreless frames in relief.
MCC led 2-1 late in game two before pulling away with three in the top of the seventh to get the win. Steve Stoklosa (Victor, NY/McQuaid) went the distance, allowing a run on four hits while striking out five and walking none.
Rosario had two more hits and Scorza had an RBI double. MCC walked four times and stole five bases in the seventh.
