MCC nine takes two from Erie

ROCHESTER - The MCC baseball program continued its impressive play in the friendly confines of its sparkling new diamond Saturday,
The Tribunes shut out Erie CC twice, winning 8-0 and 7-0. Monroe is 6-0 at home and 14-6 overall.
Vinny Bomasuto (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk) starred in the opener for MCC. The sophomore tossed six shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out eight. He also helped himself at the dish with a pair of triples and two RBIs.
MCC scored once in the first before adding six runs in the second to take control. Bomasuto had one of his three-baggers, and Cameron Stimpson (Philadelphia, PA/Friends), Brad Kaczka (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), and Spencer Scorza (Penfield, NY/Penfield) all drove in runs in the frame.
Scorza finished with two RBIs on the game, and Rayshelon Carolina (Willemstad, Curacao/St. Jozef) reached base four times and scored twice. Cameron Scalzo (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) tossed a perfect seventh to close it out.
The strong pitching continued in game two for MCC. Dylan Sheffer (Penfield, NY/Penfield) picked up the win with six scoreless innings, surrendering three hits and striking out one. Jalen Dennis (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) closed things out with a 1-2-3 seventh.
Carolina continued to cause havoc at ther leadoff spot, reaching base four more times while scoring three runs. Kaczka drove in two with a pair of sacrifice flies, and Bomasuto was 2-for-2 with a run scored, an RBI, and a stolen base. Angel Rosario (Bridgeport, CT/Bullard Havens) added a hit and two runs scored.
