Monroe Community College Ice Hockey

The Monroe Community College ice hockey program began in 1999 and competed in the National Junior College Athletic Association for 15 years. MCC played its final season during the 2013-2014 academic year, when the college made the decision to discontinue the program. 

The Tribunes were a regional and national power during their 15 years in existence.  MCC teams qualified for NJCAA national tournament play 13 times and won the NJCAA national championship in 2012.

The Coaches

Geordie Robertson

Geordie Robertson was the pioneering head coach of the MCC ice hockey program. A former professional player and a member of the Rochester Americans Hall of Fame, Robertson guided the Tribunes to a 96-42-8 mark and four appearances in the NJCAA national semifinals during his six years. With a recognizable name in the local hockey community, he was able to recruit quality players to Monroe. That, coupled with a vast knowledge of the game, helped the Tribunes achieve national prominence quickly.

Craig Chamberlain

Robertson departed following the 2004-2005 season, and Craig Chamberlain then took the reins of the MCC ice hockey program. Chamberlain's incredible nine-year run included an overall record of 185-46-6, five NJCAA national runner-up finishes, and the program's only national championship in 2012. Chamberlain's teams won at least 17 games in each of his nine seasons, including a program-best 25 during that title-winning 2012 season.
