The U.S. Green Building Council awarded Monroe County the LEED Gold rating for its sustainable design and construction of the PAC Center. The PAC received the Gold Certification for its many sustainable design features: including its optimal energy performance; use of green electricity through renewable sources; and use of recycled building materials. The facility also received praise for its innovation in wastewater and innovative design.
The PAC Center was made possible through a public-private partnership including $6 million in philanthropic support from individuals, businesses and private foundations which matched a state grant. Fundraising efforts were led by the MCC Foundation.
